ABOUT SPACE FOR CYCLING
Do you want protected space for cycling on main roads, with safe passage through major junctions? Do you want to stop motor traffic using your street as a rat run? Do you want safe routes so kids can cycle to school or you can cycle to the shops?
Our Space for Cycling campaign started in response to public anger at cycling deaths at Aldgate and Holborn in the summer of 2013.
We organised three protest rides (Aldgate Holborn and Westminster) that attracted nearly 10,000 people, and the pressure from those rides gained commitments from Mayor Boris Johnson to improve several dangerous junctions.
But that's not enough...
We’re expanding Space for Cycling to encompass a massive campaign in the lead-up to the 2014 local elections to make cycle safety in your neighbourhood the number-one voting issue.
We’re going to provide sophisticated online tools so you can email your local election candidates with a specific demand for Space for Cycling in your neighbourhood.
We need donations to help develop our online platform and to fund a series of campaign events to make sure as many people as possible take action.
The more money we raise, the more people we can engage, and the louder and more influential our voice. Please support our Space for Cycling campaign by donating today:
"We're thrilled to be supporting a charity like the London Cycling Campaign in their efforts to make cycling a safe, realistic choice for every Londoner.
"We look forward working with LCC to convince local councillors and council candidates of the importance of designing streets that are welcoming to cyclists of every ability, from children cycling to school to speedy commuters." Ben Hart - Marketing Director at Evans Cycles

As a London cyclist I regularly get questioned about the dangers on cycling in London - a lot of would-be cyclists are too afraid to cycle in such a busy place due to the dangers. I am a full supporter of the ‘Space for cycling’ campaign as it would be amazing to see safe cycling paths which families and commuters and visitors to the city alike can enjoy without the fear of colliding with vehicles. Cities like New York are leading the way for safer cycling and London is getting left far, far behind’
Nick Pilcher - Evans Cycles Regional Manager
I have ridden the roads of London daily for the last 18 months and it’s been great to see an insurgence in the cycling community. Riding around London is still the best way to see the city as long as you stay safe, which is why the Space for Cycling campaign is so important and why we’re getting right behind it at Evans Cycles.
